Real music is not dead you just need to look harder depending on the type of music. Most real music these days are from the less well known singers. The more popular singers get they sometime lose their music origin because they need to match the mainstream music that this generations wants mainly for profit or popularity.

Music is subjective. What one considers "real" music, someone else may not. The good thing is that there is all kinds of music out there in every conceivable genre that can be enjoyed by everyone. I consider Whitney Houston and Barbra Streisand to be real artists who are one-in-a-lifetime phenoms but I can still appreciate singers like Adele and Lady Gaga who are also good singers just on a different level than Whitney and Streisand.
