Default Flats in the work place - young professional

I saw a post on flats and wondered about work place etiquette. Are flats professional looking shoes or is some sort of heel a must as a business professional (obviously this question doesn't apply to certain professions like nursing). Thoughts?

I wear flat shoes to work and it's ok. I can still look professional.

Flat can look professional if they have good color (neutral) and style.

I think the deciding factor is whether the toes are open or closed - I think open toes are less professional. But that may just be me.

I use both flat and with heel, they just have to be pretty. During the summer, I prefer open toes.

I think it depends on your outfit - if your clothes are too casual then flats will help make the ensemble look unprofessional whilst of the clothes are work appropriate then wearing flats should be acceptable

Heels, but I bring sneakers as well so that after work I would change my footwear

I have to do a lot of walking and wear dressy brogues. I have a few in different colours - fashionable and comfortable.
