This sounds weird, but for casual outfits I like a pair of leisure runners like keds (or a boat shoe). Usually I prefer a slip on and I wear them in place of flip flops or sandals (so no socks). Again, it's for casual wear but I find it really brings the look together and makes me look more together than my peer group. I find they can be paired with shorts, pants, or dresses. Also, I find the shoes are comfortable and durable so that I can easily participate in any activities that I end up attempting.

With most of the clothes I wear, I usually wear heels, ankle boots, or knee/thigh high boots. <3
