Dawn of Magic (Worldweavers #4) by Alma Alexander Published February 1st 2015
Alone in the pouring rain, not a house in sight.... her car hissed spluttered and finally came to a crawl then a total stop. Hitting the steering wheel she cursed no. no nooooooooooo not now oh crap. She tried to restart the car while praying, no such luck not even a sound from the now dead engine... just an ominous click click of the ignition. Could her day get any worse. Yes no signal on her phone and wearing 4 inch heels walking in the dark was gonna be a pain.
Pain? Freakin' agony... Lucky enough, she had her entire wardrobe packed in the back of the car, unluckily her $700 shoes were ruined by the time she had fished her running shoes out of the mess of hurriedly packed belongings.
Knowing it was a long shot, she struggled through the mud to open the raise the hood of the car. Holding her useless phone up and using it for light to inspect the engine, she hoped for just a bit of her brothers know how, to help her to start the p.o.s. car her ex had left her with when he cleared out their bank account and hit the road.
Just as she thought, not a clue. Totally lost, she reached in to wiggle the little doohicky, then a wire, then loosing it completely, pounded the big round thing with her hand.
"OUCH"
Juliet used her now throbbing hand to wipe the rain from her face, and slowly stilled as the feeling of being watched washed over her, chilling her more than the rain now dripping down her neck. Trying not to be obvious she straightened and turned, visually searching the dark woods that bordered the road on each side.
For the first time it dawned on her just how alone and cut off she was in this area of bum**** Idaho. It had been desert for so long on her trip up from New Mexico, that the forest had been a delightful change. Not so much now as she focused on the eyes glowing back at her from the trees not 16 feet away.
Her heart kicked, then beat faster as her straining ears caught the sounds something breathing heavily, the sound getting louder in time with the glow of the eyes rapidly closing the distance between them.
With a start, Juliet came to life and slammed to hood down, then ran for the drivers door. Diving in, she slammed the door and then the power locks, locking all 4 doors at once.
Scared out of her mind, breath coming in pants, she turned to scan as much as she could through the now driving rain to see..
Nothing.
Incredulous, Juliet frantically tried to calm her breathing as she looked again. Still nothing. Scanning all around, she saw absolutely nothing outside but rain and trees.
Semi-hysterical laughter bubbled up as she slumped back in the seat in relief. What an paranoid idiot.. Juliet thought, just as the window in front of her shattered.
Juliet could hear someone screaming as the vision of eyes and teeth and blood filled her mind before all went dark.
Juliet awoke suddenly and didn't realize where she was. Her head was pounding. She tried to think what happened. Did she have too much to drink? What happened? As she looked around the room, she saw a person sitting in a chair hidden in the dark shadows. The person stood up and walked towards her; it was a gorgeous man wearing only a pair of jeans. Wow, she thought to herself "I would like to lick him up". The guy replied "I'm more than willing". OMG Juliet thought he can read my mind.
"Whoa, who the hell are you and how do you know what I just thought," asked Juliet. "or better yet, what do you want?"
All he did was smile, and glide towards me like a cat who is seeking its prey. And the panic set in for Juliet, because even though he was hot, he looked dangerous.
"Romeo? Romeo? Are you Romeo?," cried Juliet.
"Romeo?" He said in a low velvety purr that made her shiver. "For you, fair lady, I can be anyone."
He prowled towards her, all lean and dark and gorgeous and she gulped, torn between knowing how utterly stupid it was to trust a stranger and his magnetic charm.
"Stay back." She said shakily, reaching behind her and groping for any weapon.
He laughed softly, unphased by her bravado. It was unfair that he looked so good wet and she felt like (and probably looked like) a drowned rat.
"Oh my darling Juliet, I have plans for you that don't involve you being hurt or cold for that matter."
He held out his hand, a large broad palm and as if in a trance, she put her hand in his, feeling of all things, safe. He led her into dark woods, never putting a foot wrong, not even in pitch dark pouring rain that reminded her of ever B horror flick her brother had watched and liked tormenting her with.

She took his out stretched hand, and he drew her to what appeared to be a wall of ivy. He put his hand in, a door swung open. He drew her into a warm living room, with a fire blazing in the hearth. He drew a chair up to the fire, and told her to sit while he drew her a bath. After handing her a warm cup of tea, he withdrew, and she had a moment to look around the room. It appeared to be some kind of cottage, with a definite masculine flair. Before she knew it, he was back, and he brought her into the bathroom, where a tub big enough for two was full of steaming water. He drew off her pants and blouse, and drew in his breath. Her underwear was soaked, and the sexy silk was translucent. He drew down her thong, then unclasped her bra. He held her hand as she climbed into the tub. He shocked her when he quickly shed his clothes, climbed in behind her, and wrapped his arms around her.

The only way she can get out of this situation is to try and drown the man who dared to decide she must take her clothes off without her consent. Spinning around she threw hair conditioner in his eyes, got out and locked the bathroom behind her. He howled like a wounded dog...

Then she spotted the phone, ok she could call for help, maybe her friend Cindy would pick her up, she did warn her against going to find the mysterious Romeo."I should have just listened" . call made she started to feel a little guilty at locking the stranger up in his bathroom, not that she was going to let let him out or something (guys that good looking cannot be trusted!), but it was quiet now that he stopped banging and shouting, she was getting a bit worried . The front door crashed open and suddenly he stood there drenched like she was a couple of minutes ago.......
