Heck, I've been trying to find this book for so long...Why not give it a shot here?
I read this book about..10 years ago or so. I don't remember its name, the author's, not even the characters' names, only a few bits of it and I'm not sure if it should be classified as a romance or chick-lit.
I know it featured an unusual type of heroine: a bit slutty, self-centered, maybe a bit annoying. I remember the heroine was at a party (or might have been just a small gathering) on a boat and trying to hit on her friend's fiance/boyfriend and instead ended up reaching the hero's lap underneath the table. I think she was almost getting ready to whore herself (she was having some financial difficulties and being the spoiled little brat that she was couldn't find a better solution).
The thing I remember for sure was that she had a painting in her bedroom which she says she's focusing on during sex cause she is gets bored of it (excluding making love with the hero). And if I remember correctly it was a painting featuring A Midsummer's Night Dream.
Also I remember in the begging of the book she was at a therapy session saying something like "My mother never loved me" and she realizes she sounds whiny and just using that as an excuse for how she behaves.
I'd really really like to re-read this book seeing that it features an unusual type of heroine and I'm getting a tad bored with the more than perfect people in these books. If anyone has any suggestions regarding the name or the author I'd be more than grateful.

I've read this book 8.9 years ago, and for the last couple of years I tried to find it again but without any luck, maybe somebody can help me.
It's about time travel ... the heroine is in a car, on her way to see her sister/brother that recently married and bought a house when she crashes and it's thrown back in time, before the American civil war and meets this guy and falls in love, and the guy realizes she's from the future when he sees her watch(it was digital or something like that) , they lived in the souths and because she knows about the war she tells him what is going to happen ... they bought the house that her sister/brother have on in the future and hides some letters and pictures in the floorboard ... the book ends when sister/brother finds the letters and the pictures
I'm a little fuzzy on all the details and if somebody could help me I would so appreciate it

RED was infected as a little gir in a werewolf attack because her fathers a sort of general but her fathers friend whose Italian and a doctor gave her an experimental antidote and locked her in a cage to determine if she'd shift any the injection stopped her from "changing" into a were wolf but she has all the attributes strength speed and is able to partially shift her hands with claws and has scars of claws across her stomach from the attack. She becomes a sort of hunter? kills rogue werewolfs
Red has red hair and thats where the nickname comes from

You'll have to be more specific! That is the basic plot for many books.
Did the summary/review give more info? --
Was it historical and if so, what time period?
Do you remember any of the character's names?
Do you remember the setting, the place it takes place?
Was it a Harlequin or something else?
Without more information, I'm not sure the book can be found.
If there was more info it could narrow things down. For example, if it had a cowboy in it, that would help narrow it down. If you had more info, like if it had a cowboy and was set in Texas in the 1900s, than you could find the book.
Without more info, it's just a generic plot element.

I Know it's contemporary and no Harlequin. More like a dark novel, I Think.
It's not much, I Know, but I hope someone recognizes it though.

I think this would definietely be Stacy Absalom's "Ishbel's Party" published 1986.

[QUOTE=angela_123;13826]Another book i badly want to read was title something like Isobel's party ...its about this girl recently returned from Beirut where she had been working as nurse and been badly injured in a bombing and is recuperating at this place where she meets an old friends(the friend was called Isobel or Isabella) brother on whom she had a crush as a teenager. The night the hero had rejected her, she had got drunk and crashed her car in which a young girl had been killed. after the crash the press had hounded her and she had fled the country and has been trying to atone since. In the end it came out that she hadnt crashed her car but her step brother had and he had purposely mixed her drinks.}
This is definitely Stacy Absalom's "Ishbel's Party" - a Mills & Boon published in 1986

At the end hero finds out she never had an affair the brother in law was stalking her and tried to rape her.
I think this could possibly be Michelle Reid's "Morning After", a Mills & Boon/Harlequin published in 1996
