Hiya hun although my babies are now grown up ...I feel your pain I had one who hated to be left and wouldnt sleep either...I taped myself talking about anything nursery rhymes stories ...anything and when I had to put her down I turned on the tape..... it worked for the most part......

Another thing is some babies no matter what you do will cry.... good luck hun hope some of our other mums have more for you to try.

I had the same problem...my little man is now 3.5 and born 6.5 weeks early. We held him to sleep/cuddled him till he was 6 months and then had to break the habit. We tried different things and the best ones we found were having his special stuffed animal with him and a lullaby cd (his fave is Jewel's lullabies). We had to use the cry it out method and it was a killer on me, not so much my hubby. I had to go back to him after 5 minutes at the start to settle him, but as the weeks went along, I stayed out longer and longer till he figured out how to self soothe himself. This lasted awhile and was hard. Keep working on it and it will get better! I still deal with crying before sleeping.

Hey Hun, it's really hard to have a night-time crier but if you've been to the doctor to be sure there's nothing medically wrong (for example gastric reflux), then time is the only real cure. We have 6 children including a set of preterm(33 wks) twins. Surprisingly they weren't my problem. Probably because they slept together in the same crib and then bed until they older. My oldest daughter was my problem sleeper and in the end she just needed to cry a bit before she went to sleep. We did use quiet music and a star projector on the ceiling and that seemed to help. She did grow out of it. We also started using children's audiobooks at bedtime. That made things much nicer as they got older. I know it's not really helpful right now, but this will pass and someday you'll be the one giving advice.

I had the same problem with my son who had self soothing issues, and sensory processing disorder. They do get through it, but it seems like took forever.. In our house everyone had to be calm an hour before bed, low lights, and music (we had to use Elvis Presley) and we kept trying different things till we found things that work. My son was born 13 weeks early.

Have you tried Melatonin, my pediatrician recommended that before bed?
