I think it really depends on how the cover is done. My Hero by Foo Fighters was really good but I also like Paramore's version also. Mariah Carey's version of the Jackson Five's I'll Be There was also done very well.

Hmmm... it depends on the song/artist. I sometimes prefer the original version if the song fits perfectly for the artist. On the other hand, I prefer cover songs if I don't like the original version especially if the artist is just meh.
I think about this a lot and I think familiarity plays a large part in which you prefer, as well as which you heard first. Also, if you think about it, so many songs from the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s are covers, but we may not recognize them as such as the original wan't as famous. Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald all songs multiple covers. The Beatles' first album was full of covers. The list is endless.
I liked both the cover and original songs.
It depends, some covers are awesome and some are duds. But my favourite cover is George Michael’s cover of the Queen classic Somebody to Love
I usually prefer the original, but there are definitely some exceptions to the rule.
