My fav authors used to Nora Roberts n JD Robb, Amanda Quick (Jayne Ann Krentz), Julie Garwood (Historical romance only), Susanne Elizabeth Phillips, etc., I also used to love Payton Lee, M&Bs esp Paula Marshall, Emma Darcy, etc., These days, I can't read a Nora Roberts or JD Robb. Its too formulaic and repetitive. While I can still read Amanda Quick, I don't ever re-read her books and wait for it to be available at the local library instead of buying it.
I also loved JK Rowling and I bet was her inspiration was David Eddings' The Belgariad. I also like Rick Riordan.
Today, at the top of my fav authors' list are Honor Raconteur (and Allie Brahms), Delemhach. I will pick up anybook they have written without hesitation and read it. But any other author, I will read the back of the book and reviews before I decide to buy or will wait borrow (from library) or read it from here.
I sometimes like to read angsty romances by Natasha Anders, Catharina Maura, Nadia Lee, Melanie Moreland here.
I have never liked or finished any Danielle Steel either. No offense to her fans. The only gay romance I have read so far is Red, White and Royal Blue and I liked the book and loved the movie. So, I will keep my options open there.
I also like the classics esp Jane Austen and mysteries esp Sir Arthur Canon Doyle, Agatha Christie. I was falling in love with Andrea Penrose's cosy mysteries but was disappointed by the last book in her Wrexford series. The character development that had been wonderful regressed! I look forward to trying other cosy mysteries and will add to the list here.
