History of the Céline brand. From the children shoes to a prêt-à-porter that expresses a bourgeois and sophisticated luxury

In 1945, Céline Vipiana founded a children shoes shop in Paris
. 65 years later, Phoebe Philo electrifies the fashion editors with her minimal sportswear for the collection Resort of the Céline brand. It has been said that Céline lacks a true identifiable personal touch, and, obviously, the children shoes apparently seem having nothing to do with the minimal sportswear. During its history, though, the brand has constantly showed a bourgeois, simple and practical sensitiveness. The expansion of Céline towards the world of prêt-a-porter had already been a practical move, because Vipiana has enlarged her collection following the increased demand of her customers. The fashion maison has started to produce shoes and accessories for women and children, and in the 60s it launched a prêt-a-porter line, with an aristocratic aesthetics.
