Try these :10 Strategies to Wake Up Early and Stay Fresh
Why You Should Wake Up Early?
Before looking into ways to get up early morning, you should know why you absolutely must make it a priority to get up early everyday. You want to join the exclusive early risers club because early risers:
are more likely to be successful. What do Thomas Edison, Abraham Lincoln and Donald Trump have in common? No prize for the right guess.
are more likely to eat healthier diets.
are less likely to miss workouts.
have more peace of mind and are less prone to experiencing stress.
are able to get more things done in the day.
The 10 Strategies
Knowing the several benefits of getting up early is not enough to pull you out of bed early everyday. However, if you play certain tricks with your mind and make small adaptable changes in your day, waking up early becomes a much more achievable goal.
Don't consume chocolates or coffee after 5 pm. In fact, avoid drinking coffee every morning. As your body gets used to drinking coffee, you need increasing amounts of it to do the same job. Try saving coffee for days when you are unusually tired.
Don't make dramatic changes to your sleeping pattern. Do it gradually. Try waking 20-30 minutes earlier. Once you are able to do it for ten days, try cutting back another 20 minutes, until you get to the time you want.
Go to bed in your usual time and get up at the early time you set. Not all people have the need for eight hours of sleep every night. If you want to wake at 5, don't go to bed at 9, especially if you are not sleepy. You might end up lying in your bed for more than an hour, which will do you no good and in fact will waste your time. Go to bed when you feel tired and gradually your body will adapt itself to feel sleepier earlier to adapt to the early waking routine.
Avoid watching TV and surfing the net after 10. Doing these two activities make it harder for your brain to detect when your body starts to feel tired, so you end up going to bed several minutes, maybe even hours after you need to.
Place your alarm clock away from your bed. This way, you are less likely to press the snooze button and doze off.
Stop having conversation with your brain the moment you turn off the alarm clock. If your brain gets a say at this point, there is no way you can stay awake.
Get up from the bed and don't allow yourself to look at it. Go to the bathroom, do your business and splash your face with water.
Decide the night before why you want to get up early. When you have something important to accomplish, you will have greater motivation to get out of bed.
After you are successfully up and are able to finish your decided task, reward yourself. Allow yourself to read a chapter from a book you wanted to read or sip a hot cup of tea while watching the sun rise.
Make sure you do something constructive when you wake early. When you see the productive benefits of getting up early, you will never want to go back to your lesser productive days.
Some Final Words
Remember it takes a fortnight to turn an activity into a habit. Once you have turned waking up early into a habit, you will find it much easier to continue on with it. Give waking up early a chance. Tell yourself if this habit is not for you, you will abandon it after two weeks to trying it. My bet is that once you do it consistently for two weeks, you will stick with it for good!
