Depends on what I need to bring that day, but I have three everyday bags. A small shoulder bag, a medium-sized satchel/messenger bag type bag, and a backpack.

My everyday bag is usually a tote bag that I can carry all my crap to work every morning in. When I have extra crap with me, I'll use a cross-body bag. It has a skull across it and is extra badass.
Used to be tote, crossbody or a big shoulder bag even for a short trip.
But right now, i am quite lazy and also need to be quick on the go hence i have cut down quite a bit, using only clutch as everyday bag. I have a small clutch for walk or just going out for meals, medium clutch that i can bring to anywhere and a large clutch, most likely will be using that for slightly longer trip, somewhere i can be protected by shelter from rain as that can't fit an umbrella in.
For very long trip and places that i need to bring an umbrella along, i still use either tote, shoulder bag or crossbody, depending on what i am wearing and what i need to carry and for how long the trip is.
My everday bag is also my messenger bag, sometimes comfort is better than nothing
Coach hobo bag!:-)
Shuolder or crossbody bag
Right now, a shoulder bag. Big enough so I can put a lot of stuff in it.
I usually use a backpack, particularly if I need to bring books or need to bring lots of things. Otherwise, I'd use a tote bag or a shoulder messenger bag. They both generally can fit a lots of stuff in them, or the essentials anyway.
Kipling Denali bag is in my current work bag rotation. It's roomy and stylish.
Coach shoulder bag
