Spotting fakes?

How can you tell if the purse is fake? It's so hard to tell these days...

I had bought a cute purse off the street when visit in NY

I had never heard of Prada but a lady saw my purse and was so excited and showed me hers that she got for over a $1000 .
I told her I bought mine for $22.00


she opened my purse (which I had just met her, she was selling us an add in the phone book) and pointed out how my purse did not have Prada written on the inside pocket like her.

That's all I know, my max on purses is $30.00
